Your Outlook Determines Your Outcome!

Picture the scene, it’s Monday Morning (-15C), and I’m off to work. I open the door and this is the scene that greets me!

07:00am Monday Morning

In life, there are few things that direct your OUTCOME, like your OUTLOOK. Take a look at the two photos. What is the first thing you would have thought? Remember it’s -15 (without the wind chill), when you see six inches of snow on your car? Well this what in fact what I saw. I opened my door 07:00am on a Monday morning. So, I ask again what do you see?

Scroll down!

Personally it made me smile! I see opportunity!!! I’m going skiing!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is this outlook that resulted in the outcome of me going skiing with my daughter a couple of days later. The smaller skis on the right are hers.

Feet up – Calgary winter style

I have the pleasure of teaching her how to ski! It is a memory that I will never forget. Seeing her conquer her fears and make the most of every day? What more can a father wish for?

So what lessons have we learned from this post?

Don’t focus on the problem! Look for the blessings (and opportunities)!!!

As always, I didn’t post this to its in a server somewhere. If some part of it resonates with you; take it and empower someone to do great things!!!

What Does That Thing You Want Look Like?

What are you looking for

A wise man without a map will get lost in any country. Where as a fool with a GPS will not!

Seems that more and more people are ‘looking for something…..’. Whether it be a new job, partner, opportunity or whatever. Then a question hit me : Do you know precisely, what this thing looks like”? If you do not know precisely, then how will you know when it is right in front of you?
Take a time as you go through your day to ponder this thought. The clarity that it will give you will act as a map. It will give you a clear destination. From that, you can decide which route you are going to take to get there.

Success is a journey; not a destination.

As always- if any part of this resonates with you please pass it on. Empower someone
To grow into the person they should be.

Dig Your Well Before You’re Thirsty

I have the honor of your attention for a few minutes. Thank you.  What does that mean to you?

  •  What if you’re an athlete? It could mean ‘work on your stamina, before you are thrown into the big race.
  • To a student – Study hard before a test.

For me, I’m taking a course to help me motivate thousands of people. Do I have thousands of people waiting to hear me? Am I ready to lead them? Maybe not. But this is preparation for the crowd that’s coming.

The pen in the picture was presented to me for a two-minute speak I gave. I am in training to help mentor the crowd that’s coming. You know what’s coming; what you’d like to do. Don’t leave it until it’s too late to start. Get your shovel and get busy! I never take for granted that you have read this far. Smile as I am whilst writing this. You have a goal that you NEED to achieve! Get busy; get it done before you need it.

When your opportunity comes, make sure you are ready.  As always, I didn’t post this to sit on a server somewhere. Go take it and inspire someone!

Bring Back The Cat in The Hat

As children, how many of us remember reading these books?  I know I did. However this week I read the following quote:

“You’re off to great places.

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting;

so be on your way!”

Dr. Suess

Now, for those who have read some of my previous posts, you’ll know I love to empower others. So with that in mind re-read the quote. From the lines I thought, that is so true. Go and attack that mountain that is in front of you! Somehow the simple rhymes seem to have different meanings now don’t they?

As any parent will testify, children watch and learn from us. Go dust off the Cat in The Hat books and read them again. This time with the emphasis of empowering the children to achieve what ever goal is in front of them.

Go after your dreams, your children are learning from you. What do you want them to learn?

A: Dreams are too hard. Just settle for what ever life hands you.

B: The only limits are those of my imagination. Let’s go!

You decide.

As always, If you like this post please share it. I didn’t put this out to sit in space somewere. It is to empower someone to do something amazing!

What does an Entrepreneur look like?

Entrepreneur Up close

When you think about Jackie Chan films what do you see? Recently I have realized that his characters hold a lot of the lessons that entrepreneurs need to survive.

Each of the characters have a Kung fu master- in this analogy, this would be your mentor. The person that is where you want to be. Note the student picks the mentor. (Not the other way round).

Coach ability
Through the learning process the student is asked to train in methods that feel unusual. In these films the student does as the master instructs. Note – This is after trying to short cut the process.

Initial test
In the initial test, the new entrepreneur may fail. Luckily this is not as painful (physically) as in the films.

Experience is not the best teacher
It’s normally at this point that you get the ‘flash back’ of the failure. This needs to be UNDERSTOOD. Evaluated experience is the best teacher – John C Maxwell.

Final test
In the final test the new Entrepreneur faces his/her biggest challenge. This they overcome. This is a triumphant moment! Standing there in the aftermath of the battle; knowing they have won.

But wait…….(dramatic pause). There is a final lesson that needs to be understood.

From time to time, remember to look back at how far you have come. If not, you’ll not know if you are on track.

Success is a journey; not a destination.

As always- if any part of this resonates with you please pass it on. Empower someone
To grow into the person they should be.

Who Do You Hang With?

Who Do You Hang With? What a Crowd

Whilst listening to a video on motivation, the speaker posed the question ‘who do you hang with’? It got me thinking, as in life there are two types of people we have around us.

  1. The friend that means well but holds us back.
  2. The friend that also means well and holds us accountable.

Don’t get me wrong, the advice that the second on gives you may be hard to take, but they want your success.

When you ask the same question in a business setting the answers change. I have always been asked to recommend trades people, companies and the like. Now in this context, you are being asked to recommend people who have your workmanship, business ethics and code of honour.

With the second context in mind, a business man said ‘Remember to surround yourself with people whose tongue in their head, matches the one in their shoes’. Basically if they talk the talk, they should also walk the walk!

I have the god fortune to work with people who have done everything that they have said they would do. Earlier this month I was in LA for three days. With people who share a common goal not a common past. 20,000 business owners in one conference. I have a goal to help as many people as I can realise and achieve their hopes and dreams.

If you want to know more about the clip please let me know. It’s more important that you find out for yourself.

Thank you for reading this post. As always, if you agree with it then please share.

Be the best part of someone’s day!

Listen to Those You Serve – How to order an iPhone in the UK

How to order an iPhone in the UK

I have  received feedback from a number of people who which made me think. One was from my son, who commented that he prefers to think slightly differently. preferring images rather than the step 1,Step 2,….. and so on. Therefore I have produced a number of short tutorials to help people navigate my website.

Before you start with the barrage of emails, these are not Hollywood. Just a way of helping people.

Although this tutorial is for iPhones, the steps are the same for any phone on the market. If you’re not in the UK, just pick your flag and continue.

You will be asked for your name and email address. This is for my records, not to be placed on a database for junk mail!
