Your Outlook Determines Your Outcome!

Picture the scene, it’s Monday Morning (-15C), and I’m off to work. I open the door and this is the scene that greets me!

07:00am Monday Morning

In life, there are few things that direct your OUTCOME, like your OUTLOOK. Take a look at the two photos. What is the first thing you would have thought? Remember it’s -15 (without the wind chill), when you see six inches of snow on your car? Well this what in fact what I saw. I opened my door 07:00am on a Monday morning. So, I ask again what do you see?

Scroll down!

Personally it made me smile! I see opportunity!!! I’m going skiing!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is this outlook that resulted in the outcome of me going skiing with my daughter a couple of days later. The smaller skis on the right are hers.

Feet up – Calgary winter style

I have the pleasure of teaching her how to ski! It is a memory that I will never forget. Seeing her conquer her fears and make the most of every day? What more can a father wish for?

So what lessons have we learned from this post?

Don’t focus on the problem! Look for the blessings (and opportunities)!!!

As always, I didn’t post this to its in a server somewhere. If some part of it resonates with you; take it and empower someone to do great things!!!

Is your Vision in sight? It needs to be.

With this post, ask yourself, What is your goal? This is a very important question, as you need to really know what it is you want.

If the above seems hard to grasp, look to your own day. Is there not a picture of your family on your desk or on your cell phone? The image is doing the same as I am stating.

There will be people and things that could knock you off track. As you are on your journey, you need to have this image ‘front and centre’ in your minds eye’.

Now as an Entrepreneur, you are surrounded by those who may not see your vision. As a result of their shortsightedness, they try and knock your resolve. So what do I do in such circumstances?

It is for this reason that I try to be ‘the best part of someone’s day’. But wait, I don’t do it to help others. When they let me help them, they are actually helping me. In that brief moment, it reinforces in me that I am a good person and that I am moving towards my goal. It energizes and reminds me that the goal is worth the negative opinions around me.

So as you are on your way, ‘swimming through an ocean of rejection’, make sure your goal is strong and in sight!!!

If you decide to set a goal. Picture it.

Really picture it. If you can see it, you can achieve it!

As always, I didn’t write this post to sit on a server somewhere. If anything in the post connects with you please pass it on.

I now try to help as many people as I can achieve their dreams. I don’t know all the answers; but I’ll help you look!

WHO HOLDS YOU ACCOUNTABLE?

Who holds you accountable?

I have been thinking about this for a few weeks. I read a quote which read:

“If you want something that you have never had; It stands to reason, that you must do something that you have never done”!

The above got me thinking. If you were going to run an important race, you would get a coach, or personal trainer, right?. Helping you you to do the thing that you have never done, so you can have that which you have not achieved.

The trainer in the example above is holding you accountable to yourself. Looking out for you, ensuring you are staying on track (pardon the pun), to reach your target.

In other aspects of you life you have a Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal (or a BHAG). This is something that, at the end of your life, you want to be able to say I DID IT! So, the question is this: If your goal is so important to you, who holds you accountable?

I am growing a network marketing business. The reason I’m doing this is to be able to be able to see my Grand children (when the day comes). Whenever and wherever they are! The thought of one of them calling for me and I couldn’t get there, wakes me up in a cold sweat!

To achieve my goal, I need to help people. As a direct result, the more I help, the bigger my business grows. Now, with the subject of this blog in mind, I have decided to change from goal setting to goal achieving. I have asked those around me to hold me accountable.

  • I have set a goal.
  • Written it down (On our fridge).
  • Told my Daughter and my Wife, the goal I have set.
  • Rolled up my sleeves.

The people around me love me and will push me to achieve that which I haven’t done. Look around you. Set a goal. Write it down. Tell someone who wants the best for you. report back to them.

I will feed back at the end of the week, how I did with my goal.

As always, I didn’t put this post out there fore it to sit on a server somewhere. If anything in it inspires you, please use it to empower someone else.

BE THE BEST PART OF SOMEONE’S DAY

This weekend I was in Las Vegas. I know, right, me the guy that doesn’t gamble. I was one of two guys who were the surprise for a good friend’s 50th Birthday. That was amazing but only the first part of the story.

Picture the scene, we’re in a limo and I here a beep…………..beep………….beep. I ask the rest of the people around me but they laugh that it’s the alcohol talking (I don’t really drink either. Don’t ask).  as the ride goes on I hear it again……beep. I look around and find a brand new iPhone 5S. I tap on the glass and hand it to the driver. We talk and we realise that it must be from the previous guests. I leave him my phone number and tell him to get it back the them and hand them my card.

For those of you that are wondering why I left my card, read my blog ‘Only in Calgary’. I lost my phone and had it returned to me. But I never really got to say thank you to the guy that found it. So by leaving my phone number, the owner could contact me if they were so inclined.

Two days went by and I had forgotten all about. I fly home and just as I arrive home the phone rings. What happens next was one of the nicest phone calls I have had in a long time. The man at the other end was very emotional. As we agreed, it’s not about the phone. There are memories that he could not replace.

We left the call agreeing that we would both continue to ‘pay it forward’.

Go out there and be the best part of someone’s day! It feels great!!!!!

DIG YOUR WELL BEFORE YOU’RE THIRSTY

Dig Your Well Before You’re Thirsty

I have the honor of your attention for a few minutes. Thank you.  What does that mean to you?

  •  What if you’re an athlete? It could mean ‘work on your stamina, before you are thrown into the big race.
  • To a student – Study hard before a test.

For me, I’m taking a course to help me motivate thousands of people. Do I have thousands of people waiting to hear me? Am I ready to lead them? Maybe not. But this is preparation for the crowd that’s coming.

The pen in the picture was presented to me for a two-minute speak I gave. I am in training to help mentor the crowd that’s coming. You know what’s coming; what you’d like to do. Don’t leave it until it’s too late to start. Get your shovel and get busy! I never take for granted that you have read this far. Smile as I am whilst writing this. You have a goal that you NEED to achieve! Get busy; get it done before you need it.

When your opportunity comes, make sure you are ready.  As always, I didn’t post this to sit on a server somewhere. Go take it and inspire someone!

Celebrate Your Wins

To All who have read this blog

You know how I love to help and mentor others? Well this week has been fantastic. The company I work with has decided to endorse the work that I have been doing. They are going to put up two scholarships per year (for the next three years) to SAIT!

Thank you to them for giving back to the mext generation.

In addition they are going to take some additional apprentices from the carpentry program. I will also get to meet the new students!

For me, it’s not about me succeeding. I know I will! But it’s more about helping up someone along side you. Now that is succeYou know how I love to help and mentor others? A leap of FAITH

LEAP OF FAITH

A leap of Faith

I have decided to write about this topic, as been thinking about it for a while.

Have toy eve asked a young chile to jump? The child will look at you an decide in a heart beat… OK! In that moment it’s settled. But what happened?

Step one “Jump, I’ve you”!

‘Hmm, they love me’.

OK!

J U M P!!

CATCH! SMILES ALL ROUND.

The above took less tham a second. If you notice, all the child will state to themself ‘ok, they love me’. Nothing else. No why! do you mean it? How long will it take? Are you strong enough?

As adults, find yourself a mentor. Someone that is looking out for you. Once you have this person, listen to them! Remember, they are looking out for you. So now, when they ask you to jump there is only one statement (, not question). ‘They have my best interests at heart. Then go for it!

‘Jump and grow your wings on the way down’ – Les Brown.

I’m not saying it will always be plain sailing. But ecen when it’s not….. Your mentor will pick you up, dust you off, and help you assess what went wrong. From this point, the two of you will set a plan to make it next time.

As always, I didn’ post this to sit on a hard drive. If you agree, please pass it on and empower someone else.

Regards,

Ian
